Leyte, a province in Eastern Visayas, is home to scenic white sand beaches that are rich in marine life. One of the hidden gems in Leyte is Limasawa Island.
How to Go to Limasawa Island
From Cebu City, ride a ship going to Bato, Leyte. Then ride a jeepney going to Maasin. Once in Maasin, ride a bus going to Padre Burgos. From there, you need to ride a motorboat to Limasawa Island. There’s only one that departs around 12 PM – 1 PM every day. The fare is ₱ 50 per head. If you’re traveling in a group, you can also rent a pump boat for ₱ 1,000 – 1,500.
To tour the island, you can rent a motorcycle for ₱ 350. Each motorcycle can accommodate two passengers. There’s also an environmental fee of ₱ 10.
Dakdak Beach
Dakdak Beach is a resort located in Brgy. Lugsongan. It has fine white sands and an area for snorkeling. The entrance fee here is ₱ 25.
For those staying overnight, you can either rent a cottage for ₱ 700 or pitch a tent. The price for pitching a tent is ₱ 100 for small tents and ₱ 200 for bigger tents. There’s no corkage fee so you can bring your own food. There’s also a grilling area where you can cook. Food here can be a bit expensive so it’s better if you can bring your own food.
Lighthouse & Island Lagoon Resort
One of the best views of Limasawa Island can be seen from the lighthouse. There’s a ₱ 10 gate pass to the lighthouse. Here’s Limasawa Island as seen from the lighthouse:

There’s another ₱10 gate pass to the Island Lagoon resort and an entrance fee of ₱ 20.
Aside from snorkeling, another favorite activity here is cliff jumping.
There are tables for rent at ₱ 100 and floaters for ₱ 50.
Leyte is definitely a place for beach lovers. Other beaches that you can visit in Leyte include Canigao Island and Cuatro Islas.
Limasawa is in Southern Leyte not in Leyte. Leyte is different from Soutern Leyte.
