Osmeña Peak is the highest point in Cebu at 1.072.6 MASL. Foggy hills and vegetable gardens on mountain slopes make it a popular hiking destination especially during the lenten season where lots of people camp at the summit.
How to Go to Osmeña Peak
From Cebu South Terminal, ride a bus bound for Oslob via Liloan. Inform the driver to drop you at Dalaguete for Osmeña Peak. Then ride a habal-habal to the jump off site. The fare is 100 Pesos per head. The summit can be reached after a 15 minute hike.
The view is spectacular from the summit. We stayed for 30 minutes to relax and enjoy the view and to take pictures before we started our descent to Kawasan Falls.
The Trek to Kawasan Falls
The trail leading to Kawasan Falls is clear so we didn’t hire a guide. Also, you can ask directions from the locals. They’re really nice and accommodating. We we’re greeted with hello’s and good mornings by people we pass by.
Walking under the scorching heat of the sun is challenging but these views are soothing.
Cabbage, egg plants, carrots, bitter gourds, spring onions, pumpkins and bell peppers are some of the vegetables they’re growing.
The trek made me appreciate our local farmers more.
After a six hour trek, we finally reached Kawasan Falls. We decided to cool off and relax at the second level.
What to Bring
- Water
- Sunscreen
- Chocolate bars and snacks for energy
- And most importantly, the enthusiasm and energy to trek.
Hello! I plan to hike Kawasan Falls from O Peak. You say the path is pretty clear so I’m just wondering if there’s any path that wasn’t, as I don’t plan to hire a guide and will be going by myself. Also, were they people on the path and are there many locals on the path just in case I get lost?
Thank you
Yes the path is pretty clear but there are points where there are more than one path but there are a lot of locals there, farmers, etc.
